What is a FREEMASON and what did they do?

I think you might have it backwards, from what I have heard I thought the illuminati are supposed to be a part of the Freemasons not the other way around. And I don't believe the illuminati even exists, it is something made up for creationists to be able to say a new world order is coming to pave the way for the antichrist when in actuality the illuminati have been gone for a long time. And I have no idea what a 33rd degree freemason is.
