It sprang full-bodied from the severed neck of Medusa when Perseus killed her. It was said that the Pegasus was an offspring of Poseidon and Medusa. It has a twin brother, the Chrysaor, which is a winged boar. It is said that everytime it lands on Gaea (earth), a fresh spring burst out.
